Lindsey Graham's words threaten freedom of speech principles.

We do not support anything about this man; not his version of Christianity nor his burning of the Koran BUT, "freedom of speech" should not become the victim because of this clown.

Its Monday morning and our freedom of speech is under attack thanks to Ried and Graham. Its nearly 4:15 am on the Left coast and I awake to these two headlines:

Lindsey Graham On Koran Burning: “Freedom Of Speech Is A Great Idea But We're In A War.”

and

Reid: 'We'll look into' Quran burning

We will leave Reid's comments to stand alone. Reid has no clue when it comes to Constitutional processes or protections and his last two years of leadership in the Senate proves my point.

But, Lindsey Graham is another matter and represents a far more critical attack on Constitutional freedoms that Reid.

First, here is Graham's comment on Face the Naiton:

I wish we could find a way to hold people accountable. Free speech is a great idea, but we’re in a war. During World War II, we had limits on what you could say if it would inspire the enemy. So, burning a Koran is a terrible thing but it doesn’t justify killing someone. Burning a Bible would be a terrible thing but it doesn’t justify murder. Having said that, anytime we can push back here in America against actions like this that put our troops at risk we should do it, and I look forward to working with Senators Kerry, and Reid, and others to condemn this, condemn violence all over the world based on the name of religion. But General Petreaus understand better than anybody else in America what happens when something like this is done in our country and he was right to condemn it and I think Congress would be right to reinforce what General Petreasus said.”

In case you missed the event in question, this is about Pastor Terry Jone's burning of the Koran two weeks ago (the weekend of March 20) and the Muslim response to that event. Jones burns the Koran and murdering Muslims somehow feel justified in going on a killing spree, murdering UN workers and other innocents as they respond to Jone's short sighted protest. And we have the Reid/Graham as residue to this circumstance.

So Jones is responsible (?) for the actions of the murderers in Afghanistan and Pakistan and freedom of speech is, once again, under attack. Geeeesh.

Lets put the record right. Our troops are in harms way because they are fighting a war in a Muslim country. Their Commander in Chief has put in place rules of engagement that are getting our soldiers killed and Graham/Reid do not care enough to go on the attack about that. For example, if our troops are pinned down in an ambush, they cannot call in air support if there is a chance that the surrounding citizenry could be killed or wounded. Our soldiers cannot fire on the enemy unless and until they fire first; in other words, no "surprise attacks" are allowed. If we pursue the enemy into a residential area, we have to leave off the chase. If an enemy combatant enters a house and comes out without his gun, our troops are not allowed to take him into custody. On some occasions, our troops have to administer Miranda rights to the Muslim killers they are fighting. And Graham has nothing to say about any of this nonsense.

More to the point, could it be that our troops are in harms way because we are killing the enemy using drone attacks? We have killed hundreds of them according to reports, the same reports that ignore the collateral deaths of "innocents" in the homes surrounding these bombings. No mention of any of this. And what about "rendition?" What is that? Well, it is an interrogation gimmick that Obama uses to get important information from the enemy. Here is how it works. Obama runs to the microphone and condemns Bush for waterboarding three Muslim murderers and then orders certain captured Muslims deported from the battle field into countries that torture in ways far, far worse than waterboarding. Understand that Bush ordered drone attacks and waterboarding and rendition. That is not the point.

I am telling anyone who will listen: everyday on the battle field in Afghanistan, we commit to military action that is far more harmful and controversial than anything Terry Jones can think to do. Admittedly, Terry Jones is not helping the situation, but the murdering Muslim hordes are only looking for an excuse and if such does not come along, they will kill without a reason. No one is to blame for the recent deaths of the UN workers except the Muslims who killed them. Period.

If Graham is going to "go after Jones" for encouraging the enemy in the killing of innocents, why is he partnered with John Kerry? This piece of trash (John Kerry) came home from Viet Nam and accused our troops of the most unspeakable travesties. He was nothing more than a traitor in so doing and Graham showed be slapped for having anything to do with this man.

Understand that Terry Jones is not the only moron in this story. Most definitely, freedom has its costs. We must allow for hate speech, political lies and book burnings or there is no such thing as "freedom of speech." It is that simple.

Finally, Graham is the perfect example of a well intentioned Establishment Republican and why the TEA party movement has not accomplished all that it needs to accomplish.
