Volcker is out and Immelt is in. Soon, we will be wishing for Volcker's return.

Paul Volcker on the left and Jeffrey Immelt.

We begin with this appraisal of the Obama's "shift to the middle."

Signaling a shift to a new phase of the administration’s response to the nation’s economic woes, President Barack Obama will sign an executive order Friday establishing a new Council on Jobs and Competitiveness that will be led by General Electric CEO Jeffrey Immelt. This means that Paul Volcker is out, a voluntary stepping down, and Jeffrey Immelt is in. Politico, the author of the quote above, wants you to believe that this represents a change in direction for the Obama Administration. In fact, this is one of the more important talking points of the day. All liberal leaning blogs and programing is parroting this very message.

Is this true? A new Obama? Let's get real, shall we. The question suggests that Obama, whose radicalized redistributive policies drove the backlash vote against his party last November, was broken in that election, and is now willing to represent the will of the people. Nonsense.

Jeffrey Immelt (pronounced E-melt) is in. And who he is tells us everything we need to know about Obama's "move to middle."

Immelt, until recently, was the head of GE. GE has played the Progressive game of politics from the first day of the Obama Administration, siding with Obama on the Stimulus, ObamaCare and the advancing Green Agenda. In fact, GE stands to make millions off the supply of motors for the developing wind machine industry and work on the national electrical grid . Under his leadership, GE 's stock lost nearly half its value and has not begun to recovery those loses. He is credited for sending thousands of GE jobs over seas. And now he is in charge of a new jobs council. Amazing.

Oh, let's not forget that GE owned NBC News and MSNBC during most of the first two years of Obama. Immelt is one of several in the news industry who met with Obama on a frequent basis during the first several months of his administration. And why would the major media meet with Mr. Obama ? "Controlling the national message" coming from our free press.

Nothing has changed except Obama's pursuit of reinventing his image in the eyes of the populace. His association with Immelt is a continuation of the his relationship with the man over the past two years. It is incestuous and of no purpose other than making Obama appear to be suddenly concerned with the national economy.

We leave you the our proof of Obama's concern for controlling the media and the message that is put forth. Just listen to the first few minutes of the following video

End notes:

1. Annita Dunn, Obama's first director of Communications, talks about controlling the message:

2. From ZeroHedge (see our blogroll for favorite financial blogs) we have this summary review of Immelt as CEO of GE: "
GE finished 2009 with 18,000 fewer US workers than it had at the end of 2008, and US headcount is down 31,000 since Immelt's first full year in 2002. During his tenure, GE workers based in the US as a percentage of total employees has fallen to 44% from 52%."
