The GOP holds its ground and wins one for the People. After two years of legislative tyranny, it sure does feel good. Someone is listening to us !!!

Know who this is? Mitch McConnell, the Senate's minority (as in GOP) leader.

That single page McConnell is holding? It is a legislative instrument called a "short form continuing resolution" that funds the Federal Government until February of this coming year.

It replaces a 1,954 page, 1.27 trillion dollar "continuing resolution" packed with earmarks, unnecessary spending, and paybacks (also known know as graft ) to Democrat cronies.

The mindless Harry Reid had made it clear that the larger CR was the order of the day, that the 111th would stay in session until it past.

The GOP stood its ground and late this afternoon, Reid withdrew the bill from consideration. Of course he might make a second effort, but for now, the 1,900 page bill is dead.

If you remember last Christmas eve, this same body of congressional thugs crammed through the Senate's version of ObamaCare. McConnell swore that this same trick was not happening again.

So far, it appears the Republicans understand what happened on November 2 of this year and the Democrats do not.

The failure of this spending bill puts pressure on House Democrats to lighten up and approve the Senate's compromise tax bill. Obama and the GOP leadership reached a compromise nearly two weeks ago concerning the Bush tax cuts. The Senate officially ratified that agreement yesterday with a one sided 81 to 19 vote and sent it to the House.

House members are furious. They were left completely out of the negotiations and were told to pass the Senate "as written," period !! Obama told them that. The GOP echoed the same command. And the House is ablaze with anger. "F the president" was uttered more than once, by Democrats. In the end, when all the hair pulling is over, most analysts believe the House will "cave" and vote the compromise legislation into law.

This is what the Dems get for putting off any and all budget considerations until after the midterm election. They had two years to deal with this and decided to spend 9 trillion dollars on whatever. In fact, the 2011 budget was to have been written by last March. It was never submitted to committee and now, the Dems have lost control of the agenda.

Kind of adds meaning to the phrase, "Dem wits," doesn't it ??
