Sen. Corker Threatens Reid: If You Bring DADT Repeal For A Vote, We'll Walk Away From START — This afternoon, as momentum began to build for repealing Don't Ask, Don't Tell, Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN) threatened that if Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) brings up a vote to repeal the ban . . . .
Editor's notes: now it is our turn to play politics, and what is being reported above, is just that, politics. They call it "hardball."
People forget that the GOP has been nursing an anger for two years. While will not be about "getting even," the Dems are about to see the GOP play hardball like never before. It started a couple of weeks ago when the soft spoken Mitch McConnell read an open letter to Obama and the world. In short, it said, "You have governed without priorities and now, we, the GOP, have enough muscle to force you all to get a budget resolution and pass the Bush tax cuts or we will do nothing else. . . . . oh, and we will help write your 2011 budget. You should have done months ago. Now your budget becomes ours. "
So, the Dems yelled and screamed, used the "F" bomb to describe the love they felt for the Novice Pretender, and lost in the battle to pass their own budget (1.1 trillion dollars), lost in the battle to punish the rich with an added tax, and lost in the battle to allow GITMO prisoners to come to the mainland. That cannot happen as of yesterday. Big deal for national security.
Point of this post: you snooze, you lose.
