Senate Leader Deals Blow to President on Arms Treaty — The Senate should not vote on a new arms control treaty with Russia during the lame-duck session that opened this week, a Senate Republican leader said on Tuesday in what could be a devastating blow to President Obama's most tangible foreign policy achievement. . . .
Editor's notes: in fact, this may be the ONLY tangible foreign policy "achievement" of Obama's failed administration.
Its primary function is to limit the U.S. to 1,550 warheads. Warheads on deployed ICBMs and deployed SLBMs count toward this limit and each deployed heavy bomber equipped for nuclear armaments counts as one warhead toward this limit. These "launchers" are cut to 800 units.
Understand that this treatise is worthless because it does not include China, India or any other world nuclear power.
That is the first of two serious problems. The second being the need to trust the Russians. Certainly, there is a confirmation system included in the treatise, but how many times has such confirmation tracks been defeated by our enemies.
Because of the work Clinton and Bush 43 did in this regard, this particular treatise is both unnecessary and ill advised.
Our suggestion is to wait until the White House has an occupant who understands foreign policy and the nature of our enemies. Obama believes in the essential goodness of our "so-called enemies." In this, he is foolish and a danger to this country.
