Lame Duck Session : It will not be what Conservatives feared . . midterms were too decisive

The Dems were thinking that the Lame Duck would be the time to cram through the Dream Act (a back door amnesty bill); vote on the Start treatise Obama negotiated with the Russian president; cram through card check legislation which would banish the secret ballot from many union elections, make significant progress on the fairness doctrine ( a first step in the libs assault on conservative talk radio), and end Don't ask, Don't tell.

All this in just two one week sessions !!! It was never going to happen, folks. For one thing, they have to settle the ethics issues of the black Marxists/socialists, Maxine Waters and Charles Rangel, both charged with abusing their positions as House Representatives; Rangel is charged with the misappropriation of 395,000 dollars of PAC money and Waters is charged with influence peddling that benefited her husband. If these trials are conducted in the next congress, these two outstanding citizens will not fair well.

Assuming that these trials do not suck the life out of the Lame Duck Congress, the following might get done:

1. Expiring tax cuts: this matter should have been dealt with in 2009, but the Dems ineptness as a leadership party, has allowed this situation to reach critical mass. While the Dems have lied their proverbials off, if this situation is remedied, the middle class, who supposedly received no benefit from George Bush, will have to pay a collective tax of 3 trillion dollars compared to the very rich and their tax bill of $700 billion.

2. Unemployment insurance: 2 million folks receive jobless benefits at the tune of $310 per week, on average. Continued benefit is critical but it must be paid for -- something the 111th Congress has refused to do.

3. Medicare: Medicare reimbursements to doctors still receiving Medicare patients, will be cut 23% if nothing is done in the Lame Duck session. This is called the "doctor's fix" and was excluded as an expense item in the health care reform bill we know as ObamaCare. Now, the time has come when this cannot be postponed further; cost to the the nation" nearly $300 billion. It should have been a factor in ObamaCare but, hey, if they added this in, the bill would have been in the red and the Dems couldn't have that, now could they.

A spending bill needs to be passed, but it will not happen in this final session of the 111th Reid/Pelosi congress.

Omnibus spending bill: Fiscal year2011 began last October 1 but the 111th Democrat Congress refused to deal with 2010-2011 budget requirement. The new budget statement was due last March. . . . never happened. There are 13 different appropriation bills that come up each and every year . . . . except this year. None were passed. None every got out of committee. Obama and his socialist friends have been spending money at a record clip but without any legislative guide lines -- for the first time in the history of our Congress. Midknight Review does not believe this problem will be resolved in the Lame Duck session. The GOP won the recent elections based, in part, on the promise to reduce spending. The talk is that this will take the form of a spending arrangement that uses the 2008 pre-TARP expense platform as the baseline for the 2011 fiscal year. That will not happen in this congress.

Conclusion: the Marxist Misfits who practiced "cramdown" legislative process have officially been defeated. The scope of this defeat is one of the most monumental civilian events in the history of our nation.
