During a press conference Tuesday, Gibbs scolded groups that would not disclose, and has said that Americans have a right to know who is behind “largely negative campaign attack ads.”
“Simply tell us who you are,” Gibbs said. In a speech last week in Maryland, President Obama even called the practice “a threat to our democracy.”
“The American people deserve to know who’s trying to sway their elections,” Obama said . . . . . . Read more here.
Editor's notes: with these words, Gibbs is asking for something the Dems in general and Obama specifically, refuse to do, themselves.
There are two reasons why this Democrat strategy should be ignored: 1) it was based on charges that were made up by those who have to do with a Marxist rag called "Think Progress." The donut eater managing that blog pretended to conduct an "investigation," and came up with a $100,000 of "questionable " foreign money, and away we went. Understand that Obama raised $600 million of strange money, during his '08 campaign, none of which was given transparency as to donor identity.
In the meantime, the New York Times and Fact Check have agreed that the Chamber of Commerce has done nothing wrong.
2) Secondly, the Chamber should continue to ignore the Administration's demands unless and until it opens its books as well as revealing the donor list for all of Democrat money. If they have nothing to hide, they should "jump in it."
There is a very important third consideration that is not being discussed -- the threat of reprisals. We all know that the Obama Administration is not against using the IRS to punish its foes. THAT, we believe, is the reason why the Federal law provides for "secrecy" on this issue. Understand that all large 501-c-3 and c-6 funds are audited each and every year by the IRS which means, of course, that their private funds are not actually secret funds.
