A general rule as to the viability of polling statistics

Poll: Joe Manchin ahead by 10 points — Democratic Gov. Joe Manchin has opened up a double-digit lead over Republican John Raese in the West Virginia Senate special election, according to a new independent poll set for release Friday morning. — The Marshall University poll shows Manchin taking 48 percent . . . .

Editor's notes: Politico, the monster political internet news magazine, proves itself, once again, to be little more than a left wing rag with the story above. Rasmussen has Raese ahead in a very close election. And this is not the first time Politico has done this sort of thing during this midterm season.

Point of post: network outlets including Fox, and anything in the print/web media is not to be believed with it comes to polling. Why? Because polling is not their business. They are in the business of reporting the news, making and reporting the news as Politico has done in this case.
