Here is the problem with that comment: Axelrod has no intentions of doing the same with regard to the serious and unanswered questions stemming back to the '08 campaign. Obama refused to reveal his sources and the donations topped $770 million.
Secondly, after they answer that question, we suppose the genius in the White House wants the Chamber to sit around and wait for the next charge and the next and the next. Is that how "they" want us to play the game.
Understand that when McCain/Feingold was past in 2002 (?), the Dems immediately went to the 501-3-c system to fund their campaigns and funnel their revenues. They tripled the number of 501-3-c entities the GOP had set up, all tax exempt, all legally able to keep their collections to themselves -- except for the occasional IRS audit.
In a recent survey over a period of 60 days, it was found that the Dems collected 49 million dollars to the GOP 41 million dollar collection, both via 501-3-c organizations, proving, of course, that the Dems are not disadvantaged in the slightest when it comes to raising money.
The so-called campaign finance reform bill the Republicans refuse to support is a bill that makes transparency requirements on corporations but not on unions and teamster organizations. The GOP has no choice but to refuse support. Obama is fully aware of the one-sidedness of the reform bill but pretends that the GOP is only concerned for itself.
What is most interesting in all this, is the fact that Obama and Company are not campaigning on their accomplishments. Nor are they campaigning for the various politicians that have asked them for help. Obama is talking about himself and scolding his audience for not participating in the election cycle.. At the time he won election, he actually believed that he had awakened a sleeping giant, that the civilian army he calls the "middle class" would rise about their sense of entitlement and make something of themselves and their -- his -- political Party. He believed that he and they would crush the traditional resistance and a Socialist State would be the outcome.
But entitlement folks and special interests are just those things. If you don't "pony up" to the entitlement crowd, they forget you in a New York second. And special interests? They want performance. Obama could have passed cap and trade but he didn't. He could have passed "Don't ask, Don't tell," but he didn't. He could have finished a comprehensive amnesty bill but he waited on that. He could have closed GITMO but didn't. And he is about to be judged on all these matters and more.
Point of post: to put Obama's phony criticism of the GOP's financial practices in context as we compare the GOP with Obama's history of these very same issues.
