Why do we not hear talk about the influences in the life and development of Barack Obama.
Here is our answer to this question:
We can point to the influences in Bill Clinton life or Hillary or even Michelle Obama. We actually know quite a lot about Michelle. But what we know about Obama has been revealed by Obama. He is the one in charge of who he is and what people are allowed to know about him. Here is our answer to this question:
We do not have access to his school transcripts whether grade school, high school and more importantly, college. He is credited as being a "Constitutional authority" but without a single written thesis. No written opinions from this fellow. He is a "Constitutional professor," but was never employed as anything other than a summer course instructor teaching only 3 courses per summer, and, we have only one picture of him teaching anything and that was the Saul Alinsky Rules for Radicals paradigm.
And there are no interviews from his students !!
One would think that students, proud to claim Obama as their prof, would have come forward by now. . . . . but no one has come forward. No glowing reports of this "masterful teacher."
Then there is the outright lie that Obama was Editor of the Harvard Law Review. He knew of this rumor - it was everywhere at the time, yet, he never took the opportunity to set the record straight. Instead, it was folks such as this editor (and others) who asked the question and found the truth.
He was born a Muslim, by Muslim law, his Kenyan father being a Muslim. His mother was a pronounced atheist. While he was schooled in the Muslim tradition as a young person living in Indonesia, he did not choose Islam as his religion of choice - perhaps because of the influence of his Christian white grandparents. In spite of it all, he did not grow up "a Muslim." There is no evidence to counter this claim. However, we believe that his early education gave him an appreciation for this religion that most of us do not share. We note that he attended parochial school as a young person, as well. . . . . "parochial" meaning "Christian."
We know that his youth, up until his college days, seems to be typical to a mildly "troubled" young person. He did drugs including marijuana and cocaine -- by his own admission and, it is
clear that he rather likes the idea of being thought of as a "tough guy." This editor has lost track of the count of steely-eyed looks cast by a stern Obama as he lectures the nation and makes it clear to his detractors that the he "will not tolerate" opposition or "further delay" -- wording he seems to prefer.
Certainly, his early years were not exceptional nor did they provide him with anything "special" in terms of qualifications. Some have argued that he was a person of the world, having a Kenyan father and having being raised in foreign lands. It makes no difference to these pundits that all this "world travel" took place before he was 10 years old and did not seem to give him guidance as a teenager.
By the time he had arrived at college, it was clear to this young man that he had the gift of gab -- and he used it to advance his education, such as it was. He met and married Michelle and the two began attending Jeremiah Wright's church as 23 year old aspiring law students. For the next 20 or more years, they were exposed to the hate speech of a "pastor" hell bent on the fall of the American white man's system, including the "white man's God." Black Liberation Theology is the theology of the angry black community and nothing more. At the theological heart of this thinking is a 20th century theologian named Rudolph Bultmann. Although this German theologian died in 1976 (?) , a mere 10 years after the development of Black Liberation Theology, his thinking was not knowingly used (by Bultmann) to foster black Liberation thinking. Understand that Obama attended no other church during this 20 year period. He could not have known that the larger black Christian community rejected Liberation thinking. He could not have known the degree to which Liberation Theology varied from biblical thinking. Most importantly, although he talks as if he has a formal background in Christian theology, there is nothing in his record that allows us to think this is the case. The only Christian teacher in this man's adult life, until late 2008, was Jeremiah Wright . . . . period.
Note that he does not quit this church until the '08 campaign. He knows absolutely nothing of Christian orthodoxy. He covered up the Latin IHS symbol for "Jesus" at Georgetown University, because he was taught to rebel against the white man's Jesus - that his "Jesus" was black, that his God would not benefit the white cracker in any way.
Midknight Review believes that Georgetown was a declaration of war against the white man's God.
His belief that the "social gospel" is a function of national governance - not the unique function of a church driven by the spirit of God, is an aspect of the hand-me-down theological thinking he inherited from the very angry Jeremiah Wright.
And now you know why we hear nothing about the qualifying influences in his pre-presidential life. - jds
