An Irksome Arrangement: Glenn Beck Uses Charitable Donations To Pay For Restoring Honor Rally — This Saturday, the polarizing Fox News pundit Glenn Beck is hosting his Restoring Honor Rally in Washington, DC. Even though conservative celebrity and “potential 2012 presidential candidate" . . .
Editor's notes: from Think Progress, this article appeared in one of our news portals. The editor of TP is attempting to create a scenario in which Beck is not only a blowhard, but a crook -- misusing the Special Operations Warrior Foundation (SOWF) to pay for the 8/28 event, as if there was something wrong with that. In terms of who benefits from this event, this is a SOWF event. We have included the following paragraph from the same Think Progress article. In the following TP quote, make note that SOWF spokeswoman, Rosenthal, sees the event as her event. In the end, SOWF was responsible for the cost of the event if if if Beck could not raise enough money with the sales of various political "prizes" sold off in an auction. But, he was able to cover the cost of the event with this auction (among other things). What TP does not know, because it does not bother to interview Mr. Beck before writing this article, is that Beck guaranteed the HE would cover the cost if he could not raise the money via the auction. He made that statement two days ago on his televised show. Think Progress fails to note this circumstance. It also fails to mention that SOWF has no complaints about the handling of these funds. It is only the mindless "concern" of the clowns at TP.
Our quote from TP:
As SOWF spokeswoman Edie Rosenthal told Time’s Kate Pickeret, they have “never had an event that cost this much.” While Beck’s promotion brought in more than enough to pay for the “non-political” rally, he raised the money by auctioning off distinctly political prizes last month, including an autographed copy of tea party leader Sen. Jim DeMint’s (R-SC) book “Saving Freedom,” a lunch with Karl Rove for $7,500, or a Capitol tour with Bachmann for up to $13,000. When asked whether SOWF is concerned that associating with such right-wing politicos like the “divisive Beck” will tarnish their non-political reputation, Rosenthal said Beck is doing “something for the fallen” despite “whatever else he does” and “as crazy as he gets.” . . . . . . see rest of the article at the Marxist rag, Think Progress. >>>>>>>>>
Anyone see a problem from SOWF's point of view? Of course not, but, apparently that is not important to the TP clowns. Also, one other minor point: the hyperlink to Beck's threat to supposedly "misuse" existing funding does not take you to any statement supporting the TP accusation.
Point of post: to speak up for Beck and against this idiotic piece of slander. It is amazing to me that nearly all of the Leftist slander that passes for "truth" is the product of the fantasies of the particular Leftist author. With Think Progress, it is "lala land versus reality" in this case. It may surprise you to know that we have this blog in one of our right-column blogrolls. Once in a while, TP actually has something important to say. At least the blog accepts comments from the "opposition." Many of these leftist wanna-bees do not. They are quick to slander while disallow self-defense from those whom they slander. TP is open to disagreement and they remain on our blogroll for that reason. Midknight Review has an "open comment" policy, btw. We encourage the Left to record their complaint(s). -- jds
