When compared to the GDP, Obama's spending habits are more than twice that of Bush.

Here is a chart we found at Hack Wilson (see our blog roll above) . When Obama speaks of the Bush years, he claims a projected 8 trillion dollar deficit "for as far as the eye can see."

Two things: the "8 trillion dollar deficit" is based on phony math facts produced by Mr. Obama.

For one thing, projections are not necessary when it comes to Bush. His eight years are finished and we have financial reality in the place of projections as we look to Bush. Secondly, it was Obama and the Democrat controlled congress that created the "Bush budgets" of '08 and '09 fiscal years. Last time we looked, Congress creates the budgets, not the President and the last two Bush budgets were the bastard children of the Democrat party.

In the final analysis, the record spending of the Bush years represented a very reasonable percentage of the Gross National Product. Obama, by comparison, is about to break the bank.

If the Dems were reasonable under Bush and "bank breakers" under Obama, why the difference? The answer is found in the difference between the two Congressional situations. Under Bush, the Congress was controlled by the Dems but they HAD to act in a bi-partisan manner. Under Obama, there is no need for bi-partisanship.

Conclusion: the Dems need the fiscal responsibility of the GOP to keep them on the straight and narrow. Without fiscal responsibility, the Dems are a disaster. And we have a full year of the wildest spending in the history of mankind, literally, as proof of our point. -- jds
