Scott Brown won because he made his election a referendum on the national politic and Obama's Marxist (our word) determination to "fundamentally transform the United States of America " (Obama's words).
Understand there are 47 Democrat Representatives in the House who live in districts that voted for McCain in the past election. In recent polls in California, this editor's home state, Democrat Senator, Barbara Boxer, has not polled higher than 48% for the past two months. Democrat mainstay and close friend of Teddy Kennedy, Chris Dobb, quit the Senate three weeks ago for fear of losing an election in which is was 20 points down at one time. Harry Reid, Senate Majority Leader, will not be coming back if present trends in his home state continues. There are as many as 6 other Senators that could be added to our list of politicians that are in election trouble. Scott Brown's election only adds to the notion that change is on the way to Washington.
Susan Estrich, notable liberal analyst, told FoxNews "there is trouble in River City." She further wondered what would happen beginning tomorrow morning. She indicated that she thinks the health care bill will be run through Congress no matter what - that this election, a referendum specifically on the current health care bill, will only energize the Dems in Charge to finish what they have not been able to complete.
Midknight Review believes that if the health care bill is rammed through in the face of this election, it will be remembered as Obama and Company giving the finger to the American voter - something that will not be soon forgotten.
A factor that may have played into this election is the treatment of the primary stockholders hooked up with GM. Surprised ? !! Understand that when Obama took over GM, he moved the primary stockholders and their retirement funds from the front of the line to the back seat of the bus to nowhere. In so doing, police and teacher unions invested in GM stock lost millions of dollars and were never given consideration by the Obama administration.
They all live back East. Does anyone think that they have forgiven the loss of their retirement by a man they probably voted for ???? You may not know this but Martha Coakley's husband is a retired police officer and his union voted to support Scott Brown. Soooooooooooooo, maybe our point of view carries more weight than one might have supposed. You heard it first right here at Midknight Review.
We predict that Obama will try to continue the fight for the current health care bill, that this will be defeated by members of his own party -- politicians who "got the memo" issued as a result of this election. For some, the Brown election will be more of an epiphany than anything else. It will be seen by some as God writing his will on the walls of the sanctuary. Evan Bayh, Senator from Indiana and a reasonable man, has already indicated that the Senate needs to wait on further health care action until Senator Brown comes to Washington. He is joined in this opinion by Democrat Senator Jim Webb who issued this statement immediately following the declaration of victory for Scott Brown:
In many ways the campaign in Massachusetts became a referendum not only on health care reform but also on the openness and integrity of our government process. It is vital that we restore the respect of the American people in our system of government and in our leaders. To that end, I believe it would only be fair and prudent that we suspend further votes on health care legislation until Senator-elect Brown is seated.
So there you have it - the voice of reason in the midst of rising screams from the Marxist Jihadists bent on their own political demise. Which will win out in the end - reason or Marxist passion ??!! Sad to say, we really do not know ----- jds
