Remember this story post on December 30 ?
Reporting from Kabul, Afghanistan, and Rochester, N.Y. -- A bomber slipped into a U.S. base in eastern Afghanistan on Wednesday and detonated a suicide vest, killing eight CIA officers in one of the deadliest days in the agency's history, current and former U.S. officials said. The attack took place at Forward Operating Base Chapman in Khowst province, an area near the border with Pakistan that is a hotbed of insurgent activity. An undisclosed number of civilians were wounded, the officials said. No military personnel with the U.S. or North Atlantic Treaty Organization forces were killed or injured, they said. Most of us were surprised to read of the disaster -- and now the whole world knows that we have CIA working on clandestine assignments within Afghanistan. Not that it is a bad thing - but the point is this: up until this incident, no one else knew about it either. It turns out that no military troops were killed or injured, probably because this was a secret CIA camp. Now, of course the bomber knew they were there - but maybe he did not know they were CIA. Who releases this kind of information to the media? And is this Obama's notion of "transparency" ?
You do know that he has decided to Mirandize many of the captives in Afghanistan? That means they have the right, the RIGHT, to be silent. They have the right to hide locations and information of those who are planning on killing our soldiers. Air support has been withheld on occasion for fear of killing civilians - our soldiers are left with no air support because of this decision. And our troops must cease pursuit if the bad guys run for cover into civilian "neighborhoods." But hey, they keep telling us that he is tougher on the radicalized Muslims than Bush was. Anyone actually believe that one????
