“I think I’m going to get a Nobel Prize for a lot of things, if they gave it out fairly, which they don’t,” Trump said following a bilateral meeting with Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan.
As do many U.S. conservatives, Trump then voiced frustration that former President Barack Obama received the award in 2009.
“Well, they gave one to Obama immediately upon his ascent to the presidency and he had no idea why he got it,” Trump said despite not being asked about his predecessor.
“You know what, that was the only thing I agreed with him on.”
Obama was awarded the Nobel Peace
By the time Obama got the prize, he had already delivered a speech to "the Muslim people" (his words) but - actually - he gave his speech to the students at the University of Cairo (June of 2009). The student body was polite in their applause and Barack, promising that this was a " new beginning" in U.S. / Muslim relations, never went back nor did he follow-up on his visit to the University in any way. By the time he received his prize, Barack was already crafting an alliance with the Muslim Brotherhood and applauded the Brotherhood's eventual effort to take over Egypt. He pulled out of Iraq and allowed ISIS to fester and grow and refused to exterminate this murdering hord. He used Iran as his proxy to fund radical Islam, and, at every turn, worked to defeat the conservative government in Israel. And by the time he finished his 2nd term, none of the Middle East leadership outside of Iran, trust him ny further than could vomit. And Trump straightened out that miss, before his second year was finished. OF COURSE, he deserves a Nobel Peace Prize, but, that too, is all about politics.
