A liberal watchdog group removed a story from its website Wednesday that claimed former State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert received a six-figure salary from Fox News’s parent company while she worked in government.
Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) reported Wednesday in the now-deleted story that Nauert filed financial disclosure documents after she left the State Department on March 31 that showed she reported being paid $167,000 from 21st Century Fox between January 2018 and March 2019.
“Her disclosure as it currently reads suggests that she was representing the government in meetings with 21st Century Fox while continuing to receive a salary from the company,” wrote CREW, which called the payments “problematic.”
Editor's notes: Truns out the only "problematic" aspect of this Leftist piece of crap story, was the reporting published by CREW and Think Progress. No one bothered to confirm their version of the story, failing to either contact Nauert or the State Department. Instead, they simply made up their version and decided to publish it. When called out for their malfeasence, they offered this explanation:
“CREW’s post was written based on publicly available financial disclosure documents certified by Ms. Nauert,” the group said in a statement.
“At the time of publication, there was no other publicly available document,”
No other publicly available documents? No phone service that could have been used to confirm their suspcions? No final draft from the State Department when none was needed . . . . the original first-draft did not suggest that Nauert was "double dipping" from Fox New and the State Department. CREW's version of the story simply does not appear in any written document, proving once again, that the Left cannot be trusted with anything it reports.
To be clear, CREW and Think Progress, possessed no documentation, "available" or not, for their story . . . . none. It was a lie from the start and, most importantly, they had to have known it. No wonder these Leftist publications are losing their financial butts. I mean, CNN, MSNBC, NBC and the Huffington Post have all announced the loss of ad income ovr the past several years.
