Remember the Colorado baker who refused to bake a cake for a gay couple? Well, the lawsuit made its way to the Supreme Court, and the Court voted 7-2 in favor of the baker!
In part, this is the majority opinion:
The laws and the Constitution can, and in some instances must, protect
gay persons and gay couples in the exercise of their civil rights, but
religious and philosophical objections to gay marriage are protected
views and in some instances protected forms of expression. While it is unexceptional that Colorado law can
protect gay persons in acquiring products and services on the same terms
and conditions as are offered to other member of the public, the law
must be applied in a manner that is neutral toward religion.”
Ginsburg and Sotomayer voted against the majority. It is noteworthy to mention that Justice Kagan, an Obama appointment, sided with the majority opinion, proving that the High Court is not as Left Wing as many believe. Think about the Court's make up if Kennedy retires and Ginsburg finally pass on. President Trump could affect political outcomes, two decades into the future, time enough for the Democrat Party to wither and die away.
