Tom Cotton and David Perdue, both Senators, are about to propose a merit based immigration program known as The Raise Act. This merit based immigration program will replace the current policies at all its levels.
30% of the current Diversity Visa Program sponsored immigrants go to countries identified by ICE as harboring terrorists, countries such as Libya, Yemen, Syria, Iran, Lebanon, and, Iraq. The first four nations on the list are hot beds for terror activity, and this Diversity program allows folks into our country without any vetting at all. This Diversity Visa Program needs to be ended, as well as the "family reunification policies" of the current system.
George H Bush,as much a Progressive as any one in the Democrat Party, signed the Diversity Immigrant Visa Program into law (1989), a law sponsored by the drunk, Ted Kennedy and Charles Schumer.
Clearly, changes need to be made, and, President Trump is about to do just that. Understand that his Merit Based immigration program targeting folks who have jobs and can contribute to our country, and is an immigration program, not the end of immigration. All this talk about Trump being "anti-immigrant" is sheer crap. This blog will feature more on Trump's plans for legal immigration. Stay tuned.
Historical Notes on Immigration.
In 1932, the State Department essentially shut down immigration during the
Great Depression. As a result, only 23,000 immigrants were allowed into this country in the year 1933. Total immigration in the decade of 1931 to 1940 was only 528,000, less than 53,000 a year. In 1965, a change in immigration law, set a limit to immigration of 123,000 year, but family ties were not counted in this total. We call this "chain migration" and it is part of immigration law, today. Today, "chain immigration"* puts our immigration system completely out of control. That needs to be changed. And Trump is the man to do it. ** _____________________
* change immigration defined:
Chain migration is a term almost exclusively used by immigration hardliners when referring to the "family-reunification-based" component of the US immigration system, through which US citizens or lawful permanent residents may sponsor family members to join them in the US. Those members can, in turn, bring in their family members, and those members can name others and on and on. Trump intends to end "chain immigration." Immediate family members may be included in the new arrangement, but DACA kids will not be allowed to bring in family, as far as I know. They came here as orphans, and that is how they will remain to be considered.
