Mission Statement: This blog reviews the news of the day in light of 242 years of American history. "Nationalism," a modern day pejorative, has been our country's politic throughout history, until 2008. Obama changed that narrative. Trump is seeking a return to our historical roots. Midknight Review supports this return to normality.
Trump is demanding Justice Department and the FBI do the right thing.
Since November 22 of 1963, we have been witness to the most profound cover-up in history. More on this later today via an "update" to this post.
In the 2016 election, Google, Twitter and Facebook served ads to American voters that were bought and paid for by Russian accounts. Many targeted voters in Michigan and Wisconsin (where Trump won by less than 1 percent) and many of the ads included images and messages intended to stoke racial divisions and social unrest.
Senators Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), Mark Warner (D-VA), and John McCain (R-AZ) have introduced a bipartisan bill – the HONEST Ads Act -- to requires big social media and online advertising sites disclose who is paying for the ads, who is being targeted, and how much the ads cost.
Of course those in bed with Russia, (Trump, Smithson, etc...) would not be in favor of this law.
Nothing wrong with that proposed law. I am certain Trump would support it, as well, But I believe there are plenty of existing laws on the books that regulate this kind of thing. If not, we need that law.
