What happens if Trump "fails?"
In brief, and you will agree if you are a Trumpters, the blame will fall on the GOP and its leadership, not on Trump.
I believe that Trump is in a fail-safe environment, as that concerns his personal and political well-being. He ran as a Populace, not so much as a "Republican." Voters understand that he cannot keep his promises without the support of party leadership. In fact, this is why a third party, in general, holds no serious/existential promise . . . . . they typically do not have the support of either major party, and, consequently, no prayer at getting anything down in D.C.
At any rate, Trump really was a third party candidate who attached himself to the GOP. But he was not a partisan. Rather, his populace appeal is the very thing that makes GOP support possible, albeit "forced."
Clearly, his election, in part, is responsible for saving the GOP's gripe on the Senate. He is a positive force and party leadership must be aware of this fact. That he is a positive electionary force, is the very reason he is to feared by opposing leadership; it is the very reason his veto threat cannot be defeated. I say "threat." Understand that he is not using the veto as a threat. I am only saying that if that time comes, if opposing GOP leadership (the never-Trump crowd) moves to shutdown the Trump agenda, he, too, has a powerful tool in terms of resistance. If the leadership threatens to stall the Trump Train, he can simply use the veto to defeat their effort. Of course, nothing will get done, in such an environment, and, the conservative voter will blame the GOP. Leadership is playing with fire. Only time will tell whether they bring water or gas in their fight against this fire.
Understand this: the Trump nation is pleased with President Trump, but, they remain pissed at GOP leadership.
