Obama's ugly bid to snub voters and tie Trump's hands
— In his waning days in the White House, President Obama is
desperately trying to make his policies as permanent as possible by
tying the hands of his successor — and far more than other presidents
have done on their way out.
Editor's notes: I love the phrase "as permanent as possible." If a statute is as "permanent as possible," it really isn't permanent at all. Either something is permanent or it is as permanent as possible.
In the end, Obama took a short cut around Congress, his own party included, and ruled as a totalitarian dictator. Apart from legislation, few issues are permanent. And, even with legislation, most things are not permanent. All or most can be changed with enough support. Obama decided to rely on Executive Orders rather than legislation. As a result, he leaves office, with more than 85% of his agenda, established in Executive Orders and agency regulations. While regulations may be difficult to change, it can be done, and much more easily than legislation. When it comes to changing executive orders, those can be changed at the will of the incoming president, most on the same day Trump takes office.
Of course, to change something legislatively, there is the demand for popular support and, legislative compromise, and especially, the passage or expense of time.
Do you know that he southern border can be "sealed" by using existing law, no legislation or Congressional approval needed. Most of Obama's immigration changes have been the result of his Administration ignoring laws already on the books.
We don't need comprehensive immigration. All we need is legislative reform. We already have a comprehensive immigration system in place, and 1 million citizens are added to our national roles, each and every year.

more land and water protected than any other president.
