At the end of the day, who is the laxest president in American history? We have the answer and the evidence.

John Cassidy

John Cassidy has been a staff writer at The New Yorker since 1995.

In a highly partisan op-ed,  a man named John Cassidy,  criticizes Trump,  two months in advance of his inaugural,  pushing the theme of "bait and switch."   The gist of his article has to do with the fact that Trump ran as an outsider,  but is staffing his Administration with lobbyists.

If Cassidy believes that Trump will not "rule the roost,"  then,  maybe,  this Marxist partisan has a point.  But the fact remains,  that Trump has to use insiders to get the job done.  He is going to shack up D.C.  and all of Cassidy's buddies know this is true.  That is why they are still pissed,  a week after the election.

What Cassidy fails to understand is the fact that the consummate "outsider" in D.C. is the non-Establishment type.  Trump is packing his staff with these folks,  men and women who are not satisfied with the status quo.  More than this,  Cassidy wastes our time ranting about the fact that Trump may not spend all his time in the White House.  In the midst of this complaint,  he writes:

I don’t know about you, but I missed the bit in Trump’s speeches where he promised to the turn the Presidency into a part-time commuter job.

Here is the funny part.  Barack Obama was a part time president,  spending more than two years of the past eight years,  golfing (340 rounds of golf),  traveling to and from speeches and personal appearance  (more than 700 per year),  raising money for the DNC  (as if that was a function of the presidency) and vacationing.  As it turns out,  Barack was one the laziest Presidents in American history.
