There is a problem in believing that Trump is the end of the GOP.
For starters, this election can be no worse for the GOP, than McCain's defeat in 2008. When the dust settled, the GOP had not only lost in both houses of Congress, but had surrendered super majorities in the House and Senate, effectively nullifying the GOP in terms of being a party that counted for something/anything. If you don't get it, a "supersized" congressional majority meant that the GOP did not have enough votes to prevent any legislative effort the Dems were determined to pass into law. You simply cannot have a worse outcome than the end game of the 2008 election season.
If the Dems had been serious when they promised to legislate "comprehensive" immigration law, they could have done so. Heck, if they had decided to swear in all aliens crossing our borders, making them citizens upon entry into the States, the Progressives could have literally brought that agenda into law. After all, the GOP was powerless for two full years . . . . . and, again, that happened with the McCain defeat.
So let's stop with all the nonsense about how bad Trump will be for the Grand Old Party.
In 2009, Sarah Palin became the iconic leader of the conservative "teaparty" movement. Before the end of 2009, the teaparty movement had become formidable and conservative talk radio had become the most popular form of media in the United States.
In 2010, that movement recovered the House, and John Boehner became the GOP's first Speaker since 2006.
In 2012, Romney waged a feckless campaign, and lost to Barack. What you do not know, about that election, is this: Obama brought in 3.5 million fewer votes than he garnered in 2008. The move away from the Progressives continued.
And, in 2014, we had a once-in-a-hundred year victory for the GOP, a massive victory that returned the Senate to the GOP. Not since 1923, was the margin of victory as great as in 2014.
The trend lines were all in favor of the Conservative Movement coming into this election season. And then, Trump came along. Rubio, Walker, and many of the others, could have beaten Hillary. Instead, the Hard Right used pejorative terms such as "closet liberal," "progressive," and "establishment" to demonize all on the stage with Trump, and, in the end, we would up with the only loser in the bunch.
Glenn Beck, the only radio host who sleeps with tin foil on his tiny little head, angry that Ted Cruz had decided to honor his pledge and support Trump, argued that he "agreed with 80% of what Rubio believed." Me? I am wondering, what the hell was Beck thinking. Was he going for 100% before supporting the GOP candidate?
Anyway, there are/plenty of morons to blame, and, here we are, having to deal with a potential loss, again.
If we don't all give up, Hillary will lose her bid for re-election and the movement will be alive again. Trump will be gone. The Pejorative Wing of the Conservative Movement will be almost invisible, in terms of influence, and the remaining "radicals" will have learned their lesson.
So, if we lose but not give up, I actually believe the cake is already baked for the 2020 election campaign . . . . . . . and we need to begin that campaign immediately.
Support Trump, now, but do not allow him to control party politics after the November elections. He simply has too much baggage.
Now you know.
And, "yes," I have repented of my angry determination to abandon politics altogether. That is exactly what the Commun - ists on the Left hope will happen.
This is the culture TRrump supports...

How many cities have "right wing extremists" destroyed? How many businesses have they pilfered? How many cops have they killed? How many construction sites have they burned to the ground? How many new car lots have they vandalized?
