You will not believe who sides with the GOP on the House's refusal to schedule a vote on a gun ban.

Chris Geidner / BuzzFeed:
ACLU Opposes Latest Effort To Bar Those On Terrorism Watch Lists From Buying Guns  —  WASHINGTON — As Democrats on Capitol Hill staged a sit-in in the House chamber seeking a vote on gun policy measures, the ACLU sent a letter to senators opposing the latest compromise measure being considered.

Editor's notes:  What you do not know about the House fight is this:  1) the Senate has already voted down this bill so a House vote is an utter waste of time;  2)  this vote is not about "guns,"  but about "due process."  The GOP understands that a gun ban for those put on the Terror Watch List is a ban in violation of the 5th Amendment and "due process."  Your rights as an American citizen are taken away without any legal remedy because of the Democrat agenda.  But when did the Progressives really care about the U.S. Constitution ?   In the end,  you cannot take a gun away from a suspect without due process.  The problem with the Terror Watch List is this:  there are hundreds of folks on that list who should not be there.  They are put on the list without notice and it takes years to get off the list.  Senator Ted Kennedy was on a similar list and it took him two years to fix the problem.

Here is what the 5th Amendment says:

Amendment V

No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a grand jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the militia, when in actual service in time of war or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.

  1. What about the due process for those that Bush tortured? That's ok, right?
This shows the GOP is soft on terror. Their gun fetish is more important than the safety of Americans.

There are not many true American heros left. John Lewis is one of them.

    1. There were only three men waterboarded. They were all terrorists who were hell bent on killing Americans and no one gives a crap about them.

If John Lewis was being honest about gun control, he would have worked to pass gun control back in 2009 and 2010 when the GOP was helpless to stop such laws. This is nothing but a fund raising trick. Like I said, if they were honest, they would have passed gun laws back in 2009 when no one could have stopped them.

  2. Justice Antonin Scalia: "Like most rights, the right secured by the Second Amendment is not unlimited. From Blackstone through the 19th-century cases, commentators and courts routinely explained that the right was NOT a right to keep and carry any weapon whatsoever in any manner whatsoever and for whatever purpose. ... nothing in our opinion should be taken to cast doubt on longstanding prohibitions on the possession of firearms ... or laws imposing conditions and qualifications on the commercial sale of arms."

85% of Americans polled last week don't want people on the 'terrorist watch list' and the 'no-fly list' to buy guns. The GOP is against 85% of Americans? The GOP is more concerned with the due process of suspected terrorists? Or is it the fact that the GOP got large contributions from the NRA?

John Lewis was beaten in his march to Selma. John Lewis then and today stood on the right side of history. A true American hero.

Sure, go for it... oppose what 85% of Americans want. See where is gets you.

    1. Look, the Senate alread voted down this bill. What the Dems are doing is rather ridiculous in view of the fact that the bill is already dead. Secondly, why didn't the Dems pass gun control back in 2009 - 2010? Can't answer that question, can you Slyck>? Third, you want to put on a no-fly list without notice and for no good reason at all? This bill surrenders "due process." Not good. 85% of Americans do not want to be put on a no fly list for no reason whatsoever . . . . . take it to the bank.
