Why the GOP has a shot at winning every election:

At first glance (the chart below),  the advantage goes to the Democrats.  So,  why has the White House been occupied by a Republican 28 years versus the Democrats 20,  since and including Nixon?  Why have the last two mid-term elections (2010 and 2014) been so one sided in favor of the GOP?

Two reasons come to mind;  the first is seen in this chart. When you add up those states that have voted Democrat 4 times or more,  Democrats score 23 and the GOP surprisingly scores 24 and the remaining two states have split their vote 3 to 3 since 1992.  More than this,  when Gallup takes a poll of "libs versus conservatives apart from party identification,"  the percentages favor "conservative" by a 40 to 20 margin, on average.  Understand that there are conservative Democrats,  and more than you might think.

One additional but little known fact is this:  there are more registered Republicans than Democrats.  A fourth consideration comes to mind,  as well:  Barack is not nearly as popular as the media wants you to believe.  In his re-election campaign of 2012,  he took in 3.5 million fewer votes than in 2008 while the feckless Mitt Romney took in 1 million more votes than John McCain.   Compare that to Bush 43 who took in 12 million more votes in his re-election effort than he did in his first campaign.
