NRA says Trump's Orlando comments ‘defy common sense’
— More On: — WASHINGTON — Two top National Rifle Association
officials took aim at Donald Trump on Sunday, blasting his suggestion
that armed club goers could have prevented the deadliest mass shooting in
US history as one that “defies common sense.”
Editor's notes: Specifically, the two sides of the issue (Trump versus the NRA) has to do with the notion that firearms in a bar setting, is a good thing, that had there been firearms in the gay nightclub, the killer would not have had as much success. While that may be true, the problem is what happens when a Muslim is not in the bar killing people. Do we really want guns in a bar scene. The NRA says "no," Trump says yes.
After a meeting with the NRA, Trump's stand appears to be written in stone.
According to the NY Post, NRA CEO Wayne LaPierre said Sunday that pistol-packing revelers are not a good idea. “I don’t think you should have firearms where people are drinking,” LaPierre told CBS’s “Face the Nation.”
He later tweeted, “I want to clarify my comment: if you’re going to
carry, don’t drink. OK to carry in restaurants that serve alcohol.”
