Bombshell Poll Shows Democrats Would Win Utah If Trump ...

Editor's notes: The NY Times ran a similar story, using a Deseret News/KSL poll, here. If you are a frequent reader of this blog, and more than 1.5 million folks include Midknight Review in their political search, you know that this editor does not believe in the accuracy of most polling data. National polls are, in fact useless, when it comes to predicting the presidential race, for example. It makes no difference if Hillary is "up 15 points on Trump." She is not going to win the election by 15 percentage points. No one in the modern age has ever done that, including Barack Obama. What matters most, in a general election, are the 8 to 10 "swing states."
More than this general election fact, this "bombshell" report is based on a poll taken of 500 Utah citizens by a local (KSL News) T.V. news outlet. There is nothing "special" or noteworthy about "Deseret News" or the KSL affiliate . . . . . nothing. In fact, many of the folks polled for this report, were cellphone users. Nothing "scientific" about this, but the very liberal, mainstream media will ride this horse until it drops, and then, move on to the next nothing-burger prediction that says what it wants it to say.
I hasten to add that the report could be true. Trump's Utah primary results were horrendous . . . . but that goes to my point. The only polls that matter, are voting polls and Trump did so poorly in the Utah primary, thanks to Mitt Romney (hey, its called "politics"), that the Trump campaign has to be concerned.
Personally, I do not believe Trump will win the nomination if he cannot score 1237 delegate votes before the RNC. And, if he loses Wisconsin this coming Tuesday, you should bet a modest about of money on my prediction.
Understand that the general election cycle has not started. We are only in the primaries. So let's just take a breath and wait until polling results really matter, if that is ever the case.
