At the time of the original headline, we were being told there would be no Neilsen rating for the Trump Protest Rally because it was not covered from beginning to end. Turns out that was wrong.
Updated: So, how did Trump do? I mean, he opined his sorrow at what his departure from the GOP stage was going to do Fox News. "How sad," were his exact words. Now we know. Fox and the GOP never needed Trump for its record setting debate numbers.
Look at the numbers:
The very first GOP debate of the primary season, was a second tier debate on Fox. It scored 12 million viewers while the "top tier" debate, same stage - same night, scored 26 million viewers. Understand that the first debate with its 12 million, was an all-time record for political debates and it was done without Trump.
That second debate with its 26 million, would have been huge, without Trump, scoring some 18 million viewers, again, if Trump had not been there. We know this because all of the GOP debates have outscored the Democrat debates, and that first Democrat debate took in nearly 16 million . . . . . . . . without Trump.
Why do we not hear Trump bragging about his victory versus Fox, on Thursday night? Because he got his butt kicked up to his eyeballs . . . . . 2 million versus 13 million.
So, how bad was this butt kicking? The most recent Sunday night Democrat debate was on NBC and it took in 10 million folks . . . . . . . . . . on major network television. Cable Fox, without Trump, took in 13 million and was the highest rated debate of the three debates held since the first of January (10 million for the NBC debate, 12 million for the Fox Business debate with Trump on stage, and 13 million on Thursday night, without the Blowhard).
Now you know.
