Of the 1236 votes needed to win the GOP primary process, Iowa counts for the following:
8 votes total, goes to the winner.
The runner-up gets 6 votes
And, third gets 4.
That's it . . . . . . plus a little momentum.
Turns out Iowa, with its 18 primary vote offering, is only "important" because it is the first primary event . . . . . period. We have a long way to go. South Carolina is considered a bellwether primary state. Over the past four decades, only one GOP candidate did not win in South Carolina.
Now you know.
