I predicted this a year ago.  The plan has always been to befriend the criminal leadership in Cuba,  empty GITMO and return the land/facilities to Cuba.  Our treatise with Cuba gives the US President that authority.  And while Obama is self-righteously ignorant as to the so-called "harm GITMO has done,  as a symbol of hate to the Muslim community,"  the fact remains that,  of all the hundreds of campaign promises he has broken,  GITMO is one that he wants to keep.  

Never mind that hundreds of soldiers fought to capture these ingrates, or that dozen of men died because of them; never mind the fact that there is no truth to the fantasy that GITMO is a motivation for Islamic terror;  never mind that Obama killed bin Laden,  that he continues his death by drone campaign,  that he has killed more than 5,000 innocent Muslim bystandards in those attacks   . . . .    all of which are infinitely more a motivation for lsamic revenge than GITMO ever thought of being.  

And so,  in the midst of an increasing terror war by radical Islam,  Obama sees overwhelming value in setting free the worst of the worst,  for the sake of a brag,  on his last day in office.
