Palin supported an Independent/Democrat ticket for governor this past election.

In October 2014, Palin endorsed the "unity ticket" of Independent Bill Walker and Democrat Byron Mallott in the 2014 Alaska gubernatorial election, who are running against her successor and former Lieutenant Governor, Sean Parnell.

The endorsement was prompted by Parnell's oil and gas industry tax cuts, which dismantled her administration's "Alaska's Clear and Equitable Share" (ACES) plan. She had previously supported a referendum to repeal the tax cuts, which was narrowly defeated in August 2014. Walker and Mallott have made the repeal of the tax cuts a centrepiece of their campaign.   (This came from a Wikipedia article,  found here.)

Update:  Walker,  a Republican turned Independent,  won the gubernatorial  election.  Mallot,  a Democrat,  was his running mate.   Before Palin tooks sides,  the race was to be a "cake walk" for Parnell.  Conclusion?  Palin sees principles as more important than party politics,  not to mention the fact that the Babe still matters,  often,  big time.
