Ferguson and Obama's no-responsibility America . . . It’s easy to talk about the can-do American spirit. Everyone thinks of themselves as part of an America where people haul themselves up by their bootstraps, become self-made men and women, succeed despite the odds, and several other cliches.
What is being forgotten, in President Obama’s no-responsibility America, is that these things take really, really hard work, sacrifice, and risk. Obama is doing a splendid job of erasing the basic American spirit and character. White House Dosser

Obama slaps cameras on 50,000 cops . . . President Obama today proposed a $263 million initiative designed to increase trust between police departments and the communities they serve, including a $75 million matching program to help buy 50,000 cameras to be worn by cops, a move demanded by the parents of Michael Brown. Hill staffer resigns over Malia and Sasha comment . . . A staffer for a Republican congressman resigned Monday amid public outrage over disparaging comments she made last week about President Obama’s daughters, proving that there still may be some taboos in Washington’s ever more rancorous political culture. Holder has a plan to end racial profiling . . . Speaking at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta — the church where the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. preached — U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder said Monday that he will soon unveil long-planned Justice Department guidance aimed at ending racial profiling. Associated Press
Somehow I doubt this involves legislation.
Senate to OKs Obama fat cats for ambassadorships . . . Two of President Obama’s most controversial ambassador nominations are poised for any easy confirmation Tuesday after Democrats rallied behind them. Washington Examiner

EPA staffers linked to "alleged serious misconduct" . . . Eight Environmental Protection Agency employees who racked up a total of more than ten years’ worth of paid “administrative leave” between 2011 and 2014 -- valued at more than $1,096,000 -- apparently did so because they were involved in “cases of alleged serious misconduct,” Fox News has learned. HHS claims hospital safety strides . . . The number of patients who were injured or became ill during a hospital stay dropped 17 percent since the start of ObamaCare, saving about $12 billion in healthcare costs, according to new government data. Strides in patient safety saved the lives of about 50,000 patients. The Hill

Boehner plan would avoid shutdown . . . House Speaker John Boehner will try to sell fellow Republicans this week on a government spending bill that avoids a shutdown fight but allows the party to strike back at President Barack Obama's immigration order. Reuters
Democrats to blame for their own decline . . . Democrats have subordinated their traditional focus on helping lower- and working-class Americans move up the economic ladder in favor of other noble priorities, such as health care, the environment, and civil rights. Paul to announce reelection bid . . . Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., who is openly considering a presidential bid, said that while he was still "four to six months" away from making a decision about a White House run, "the one thing we've decided is that I'm definitely running for re-election." Portman won't run for president . . . Ohio Sen. Rob Portman, a Mitt Romney ally in 2012 who was exploring his own bid for president in 2016, says he has opted against a White House bid and will instead seek another Senate term. Politico
Rather, the Senator from OHIO is running for vice president.
Jeb slams Obama immigration order . . . Hinting that a decision on his presidential ambitions is coming "in short order," former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush on Monday condemned President Barack Obama's recent immigration order for going "way beyond" what other presidents have done — including Bush's own father. Associated Press
Lawmakers stage hands-up-don't-shoot stunt . . . “Hands up, don’t shoot. It’s a rallying cry of people all across America who are fed up with police violence,” Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) said as he took the floor. Politico

AP accused of anti-Israel bias . . . The Associated Press is pushing back against charges leveled by one of its former Israel-based reporters that the global news agency is systematically biased against Israel and specifically makes editorial choices meant to portray the Jewish state in negative terms. UN bashes United States for "torture" . . . Police brutality, military interrogations and prisons were among the top concerns of a U.N. panel's report Friday that found the United States to be falling short of full compliance with an international anti-torture treaty. Associated Press

Police investigate Michael Brown dad for incitement . . . Michael Brown’s step-father, Louis Head, is being investigated for inciting a riot by urging bystanders last week to “burn this bitch down,” in reference to Ferguson, Mo., the town’s police chief said Monday. Daily Caller

Chris Rock to whites: Own your racist legacy . . . Chris Rock explained he believes part of healing racial relations in America is by white people “owning” the actions of their ancestors. The black comedian said racial progress in America is “nonsense” and that the only thing that’s changed is white people aren’t as crazy as they used to be. Washington Times
Barkley backs grand jury . . . Former NBA star Charles Barkley recently called Ferguson looters "scumbags," praised police officers who work in black neighborhoods, and said he supports the decision made by the grand jury not to indict officer Darren Wilson in the Michael Brown shooting. Illegals who murdered caught reentering country . . . The two unnamed brothers, 36 and 38 years old, had entered the country illegally over a decade ago, and were convicted of first-degree murder in Illinois. They served six and ten-year terms respectively, after which they were sent back to Mexico. Daily Caller
