Understand that respect for, and support of, Constitutional law is a critical aspect of the "patriot" concept. Those who would ignore Constitutional law in support of "sanctuary cities," the legislative use of executive orders, forced union membership, the criminalization of opposition speech, opposition to gun ownership, and the denial of religious expression and conscientious objection, cannot be considered "patriots." Mayor Parker is of this ilk. In the very recent past, she committed to an effort to criminalize opposition speech and used her powers as "mayor" to continue a lethal campaign against those who find her disagreeable.
When her illegal subpoena orders were exposed in media reports earlier this week, she decided to take a position of denial, while the city's attorney has chosen to pretend he knew nothing about the orders he and his office issued. She is a three term mayor. Understand that a nominal 68% of Houston's population is Black, Hispanic and/or gay. The point of this stat is not about ethnicity or sexual preference, but, about the fact that these population centers are firmly in the hands socialist, Utopian, America. As time goes on, expect to see more reporting as to the abuse of power practiced by Socialist America.
(KTRH) – Houston Mayor Annise Parker is doing damage control after national media picked up on her subpoenas targeting local clergy who protested her equal rights ordinance.
The mayor says the subpoenas were too broad, and should not have included actual sermons.
“It’s not about what did you preach on last Sunday,” Parker told reporters Wednesday. “It should have been clarified, it will be clarified.”
The Alliance Defending Freedom filed a motion to stop the subpoenas earlier this week.
City Attorney David Feldman says he didn’t review the subpoenas before they were issued.
“When I looked at it I felt it was overly broad, I would not have worded it that way myself,” he said. “It’s unfortunate that it has been construed as some effort to infringe upon religious liberty.”
The city of Houston had subpoenaed five local pastors requesting a variety of documents related to their involvement in the legal battle over the city's recently passed Equal Rights Ordinance (HERO), which prohibits discrimination against LGBT residents. The Subpoenas Are In Response To A Lawsuit Filed By HERO's Opponents. The subpoenas are part of the discovery phase of a lawsuit filed by HERO's opponents after they unsuccessfully tried to gather signatures to repeal the ordinance.
ReplyDeleteSermons Are Not Immune To Being Subpoenaed. As The Washington Post's Eugene Volokh explained, precedent suggests that information typically protected by the First Amendment can still be subpoenaed if it's relevant to a legal investigation.
The Subpoenas Are Meant To Gather Information About Improper Church Behavior. The goal of the subpoenas is to gather information to support the city's case that HERO opponents behaved inappropriately when gathering signatures to repeal HERO. Broad Subpoena requests aren't unusual.
Smithson shows he has the need to attack the LGBT community because he apparently believes it reinforces his masculinity. He has repeatedly shown that he is obsessed with transexuals. Perhaps an unsatisfied curiosity.
I have a man bike that proves my masculinity, not to mention two previously happy ex wives. How about you, Mr Single, skinny ass, bi cycle riding One Percenter? But then, again, I don't really care. The fact that you could not care less about the categories I mentioned, above (main post) puts you in the camp of the enemy, no friend of the US of A and a willing supporter of the ways and means doctrine. You might as well move back to Moscow or where ever. Obviously you would be much happier there than here. Besides, we were here long before you and your Utopian heroes.
DeleteHAHAHAHA!!! "Proves" his masculinity by sitting his fat ass on a motorcycle.
DeleteThen he lays it down.
Priceless.
Laid it down at 55 mph in morning Sacramento, 7 lane wide, rush hour traffic; torn tendons in my left shoulder; got up, and rode 1600 round trip miles to Boise and back before spending a night in the ER. Case closed !!!!
DeleteGood grief. You take a radicalized liberal think tank's biased research/report and think it is gospel. I suppose there is a big difference between looking at sexually alternative behavior and practicing sexually alternative behavior. Into which camp do you fall?
DeleteMany studies for year have come to the same conclusion: conservatives are the biggest consumers of pornography. It's an undisputed fact. Now with the help of search engine stats, it's indisputable.
DeleteSmithson attacks a respected peer-reviewed academic journal because he doesn't like the truth.
Typical.
This is what the worship of an existential education looks like, folks. The man thinks criticism of any Utopian think tank is a demonstration of ignorance, in and of itself. "Peer-reviewed" simply means, in this case, that at least one other professional existentialist read the paper and agrees. Keep in mind that this is the very same process that agreed with the 9 count for our galaxy for decades, told us of the dangers of eating more than 2 eggs per week, have given us countless medical solutions that have proven to cause death and/or disabilities after the fact, took DDT off the market resulting in the deaths of 20 million Africans and may be partially responsible for the Ebola epidemic in Africa, defends the notion of gender reassignment (its peer-reviewed, people). I could list hundreds of peer-reviewed practices, approved patients, and methodologies that have been rescinded, over the years.
DeleteMore than this, Anonymous seems to believe that the report he references establishes the "fact" that conservatives are perverts and liberals are not. He calls this "critical thinking." Assuming the methodology of the research to be without question, the difference in size between conservative voyeurs and liberal voyeurs is less than a percentage point; i.e., very little different in the size of each group.
