Update #1: Three countries joined the
Update#2: from reports this morning, there is doubt as to whether Egypt joined in the bombings. Such were the reports overnight, but not so much this morning. Obama will give another speech, this morning. Perhaps that will clear up such questions. What appears to be fact are these: Turkey has not joined the alliance nor any European nations. Curiously, France was not a part of the night's missions.
Qatar is often mentioned as being involved, as well as those named in our headline. But, there really is no evidence that this is the case. Qatar supports the Muslim Brotherhood, and, is reported to have funded ISIS in the recent past.
While ISIS is Sunni, it is so radicalized that it has alienated itself from the Sunni leadership in the Middle East as well as the Shia leadership in Iraq, Iran and Bahrain.
The air strikes, should they be successful, are not being coordinated with ground forces rushing in to secure the positions bombed by the "allied" forces. Why, you ask? Because we have the cart before the horse. There are no troops prepared to secure these positions. According to Obama's own plans, there will be no such forces, Syrian fighters all, for more than a year.
These troops, not yet committed to the fight, are to be taken to Saudi Arabia, trained in that country, and sent into battle against a force of some 40,000 ISIS troops (an estimated number for ISIS, a year from now).
So, the ignorant masses will think we are doing something, just in time for the midterm elections. and Obama wins another war of words . . . . . the story of his otherwise fraudulent life.
Meanwhile, there are early reports that ISIS is planning an attack on the US Embassy in Baghdad. We will all have to wait and see how this works out.
