This afternoon, the Boehner plan will actually become a legitimate proposal. Obama's plan is still in the talk stage. Blame the GOP for "going over the cliff," if you will, but you should know that the Republicans are the only folks in Washington actually committed to a legislative proposition.
The Dems? Like I said, it is all "talk" with them and nothing, absolutely nothing more. So who should get the blame for the "cliff ?" If you do not think it obvious, especially after reading the following, there is nothing more that can be said. See what you think:
CNN outlines Boehner’s “Plan B” with the following:
One of the measures would amount to both a concession by
Republicans and a hard-line stance against the president on taxes. It would
extend tax cuts scheduled to expire at the end of the year for most people
while allowing rates to increase to 1990s levels on income over $1 million.
The second proposal would change the automatic spending cuts
set to kick in next year under the fiscal cliff, replacing cuts to the military
with reductions elsewhere.
You should know that the difference between a serious plan and “blah,
blah, blah,” is a written proposition
that has been voted on by either the Senate or the House.
The vote on Plan B is scheduled to take place this evening
(Thursday the 20th ). At that
point in time, assuming the proposition
passes the House, the GOP will have the only proposition on the Hill. By way of contrast, all that has come from Obama, thus far,
is talk. There is no
proposition. There is no bill. There is no written statement. There is no legislation.
Only the Republicans have presented something of
substance, designed to save the middle
class from the “fiscal cliff.”
After passage, the House
bill will go to the Senate. Of
course, Hapless Harry has already
declared the bill DOA. Understand he is the
leader of the single most “do nothing” Senate in American history. That’s right.
The 113th Senate has dealt with the fewest legislative
options of any Senate since our nation’s founding. More than that, it is the only Senate in American history to
refuse so much as a floor discussion for the budget, four [fiscal] years,
running.
More than the Senate’s budgetary failures, Obama is the first [Democrat] president
to have all his budget proposals fail in a legislative body ruled by the party of which he is the leader. Three of his budget propositions failed
to garner a single vote, from either
side of the political aisle. I find that
an incredible fact. His budget proposal
failed in the Senate 97 to NOTHING (!!),
and 99 to NOTHING (!!) and in the House,
414 to NOTHING !! A fourth proposition was so poorly
written, it was actually rejected by the
Congressional Budget Office.
All of this history goes to the fact that the Dems have
failed to be serious about the budget throughout the four years of the Obama
Administration.
Point of post: stop blaming the GOP.
At least they are putting bills on the table. The Dems have put nothing on the table. It has been all talk and that continues to be
their strategy.
