There are some 800 active tea-party groups. Counting
members, friends and family associated with this grassroots movement,
we have close to 40 million folks involved with the tea-party or
supportive of its efforts. (compare this to the 40,000 anarchist - at its
peak - who identified with Occupy). The tea-party has elected 56
congressmen, 6 senators, and 754 state and local officials.
Occupy has elected no one and has not changed "the
nature of the national debate" on wit. Van Jones and Elizabeth Warren intended
Occupy to be a third national party, "progressive - collective"
in its goals and Marxist in terms of its philosophical sensitivities
and justification. The “convention” was to be held in June of
2012, and was to have representatives
from all 50 states. The fact that this
fantasy was a total failure is evidence of the fact that America is not ready
for this kind of political nonsense.
The Left desperately want Occupy to have equivalency with the tea-party,
but 40 thousand is hardly a comparison to 40 million, not to mention the demonstrable fact that the
tea-party continues to influence elections, while Occupy has devolved into a
smattering of kids bent on raising hell and committing random acts of
violence.
