After defeat of Senate cybersecurity bill,Obama weighs executive-order option . . . Senate
Republicans recently blocked cybersecurity legislation, but the issue might not
be dead after all.
The White
House hasn't ruled out issuing an executive order to strengthen the nation's
defenses against cyber attacks if Congress refuses to act.
“In the wake
of Congressional inaction and Republican stall tactics, unfortunately, we will
continue to be hamstrung by outdated and inadequate statutory authorities that
the legislation would have fixed," White House Press Secretary Jay Carney
said in an emailed response to whether the president is considering a
cybersecurity order. . . . .
Editor's rant: never mind that the Republicans used Senate rules and a small Democrat contingency to stop this bill's passage through the Senate. Never mind that the president, any president, is not a legislator by Constitutional decree. Never mind that this bill is full of private sector regulations. Forget about the fact that we already have plenty of "protections" for the military - in fact, contrary to Democrat popular belief, there are grown men running the military who actually know how to prioritized assault protections and put in place effective barriers to whatever enemy strategies that are out there.
If this bill is not totally unnecessary, it's mountain of new private sector regulations are. Understand that growing government ever bigger, is part of the Jihaist Left's funding strategy in their quest for wealth redistribution (from our pocket to theirs - bypassing the poor and the middle class). Regulation compliance cost money and most of that money goes back to the government in terms of fees, permits, and [environmental] reviews. Once in the hands of the Feds, this money can, apparently, be spent for whatever purposes the Resident Dictator in Charge (we used to call this person "the President") has in mind.
Look, when a whole segment of the population (i.e., the legislative Democrats) decides to ignore the rules, sooner or later, that dictate comes back to haunt them. The overriding issue with Liberal Democrats is this: they cannot see beyond the end of their noses. They never think about "tomorrow" while abusing rules, today. In every case, when the tables are turned on them, they begin their collective Whine, and sob about the loss of Constitutional equality.
At any rate, Obama is about to respond with his own rules for this country and in doing so, has disqualified himself from being "president." If we win this coming election, many "in the know" need to concentrate on putting his memory and his so-called "legacy" so far underground, that its stench will never reach the surface.
