<<<<< This is New York three years from now, according to Al Gore. He made this prediction in 2005. Ain't going to happen. Wasn't even a close call. And the aftermath of Katrina? Remember all the B.S. predictions concerning the years immediately following that hurricane? Didn't happen - wasn't even close.
Generally, I comment on a
headline or a rather short news clip, but I found this particular
excerpt, rather ridiculous, and have posted it in the hopes
of convincing some of just how silly global warming propaganda can be. It is an
AP story that was published on MyWay,
a news portal I use in writing this blog, and it illustrates
the illogic of the Left in this matter.
First, it (the article) uses the extreme conditions in the
eastern part of the States, as an example of what global warming looks
like, as if we can't figure out what "extreme warming" means,
in a physical sense. The very existence of this article is an
implicit advertisement for global warming in spite of the fact that the article
makes it clear that climate change "may not" be the issue, in the
case of the eastern States' heatwave. The article comes complete with a
new word for us to learn, "derecho." I guess they have
moved on from "B.S." and the like.
It mentions the 3,215 new heat related records set in the month of
June, overlooking the fact these records broke previous heat related records
set 60, 70, even a 100 years ago.. But never mind all that heat
"back in the day."
By the time the article gets to its fourth paragraph, the
author has given up on the current heat wave being an example of actual,
global warming !! One wonders why the author continues, I
mean, after admitting that his warming example is not a global warming
event. Logically, everything that follows paragraph four, is
pure fantasy. The author just doesn't want to give up on making his
point, in spite of the fact that he is using an example he admits has
nothing to do with global warming.
And they say, we are the unintelligent folks. Geeeesh.

WASHINGTON (AP) - If you want a glimpse of some of the worst
of global warming, scientists suggest taking a look at U.S. weather in recent
weeks.
Horrendous wildfires. Oppressive heat waves. Devastating
droughts. Flooding from giant deluges. And a powerful freak wind storm called a
derecho.
These are the kinds of extremes climate scientists have
predicted will come with climate change, although it's far too early to say
that is the cause. Nor will they say global warming is the reason 3,215 daily
high temperature records were set in the month of June.
Scientifically linking individual weather events to climate
change takes intensive study, complicated mathematics, computer models and lots
of time. Sometimes it isn't caused by global warming. Weather is always
variable; freak things happen.
(Paragraph four)
And this weather has been local. Europe, Asia and Africa
aren't having similar disasters now, although they've had their own extreme
events in recent years.
But since at least 1988, climate scientists have warned that
climate change would bring, in general, increased heat waves, more droughts,
more sudden downpours, more widespread wildfires and worsening storms. In the
United States, those extremes are happening here and now.
So far this year, more than 2.1 million acres have burned in
wildfires, more than 113 million people in the U.S. were in areas under extreme
heat advisories last Friday, two-thirds of the country is experiencing drought,
and earlier in June, deluges flooded Minnesota and Florida.
"This is what global warming looks like at the regional
or personal level," said Jonathan Overpeck, professor of geosciences and
atmospheric sciences at the University of Arizona. "The extra heat
increases the odds of worse heat waves, droughts, storms and wildfire. This is
certainly what I and many other climate scientists have been warning
about." . . . . . (link to full article)
