News Alert: Apparently, Obama is working for tax breaks for the rich and famous, as well. Who knew??

Obama Appeals for Public Outcry on Payroll Taxes - ABC News

abcnews.go.com/.../obama-appeals-for-public-outcry-on-payroll-taxe...

Feb 14, 2012 – Don't let taxes go up on 160 million working Americans. ... The only people complaining that taxes are too low are the people that don't pay any, .... Avg. Retail price/gallon gas in U.S. $1.83 $3.44 84% 1 .... The higher paid folks pay a lesser % of the income as a payroll tax overall once they go pass the limit. . . .

Editor's notes:   There you have it, cut and pasted right off the nearest Google menu page.  And,  before we can click on the link and begin reading the ABC drivel that passes for "researched" news,  we have a few issues to deal with.

Issues:

First,  the "160 million . . . . Americans" include the so-called rich one percenters.  In this report, if we take the wording literally,  Obama is as concerned about raising taxes on the rich and well-to-do as he is concerned for the "working poor."

Secondly,  the actual number of working Americans is 153.6 million Americans.

Third, only 84 million of these folks actually pay income tax.

Fourth, the Lefties and whiners in their camp are as guilty of "legalized tax evasion" (also known as 'loopholes') as are the Right Wing big dogs.

Me?  I am retired blue collar, middle class.  My wife and I just paid an $8,000 tax bill for 2011 on a fixed income.  The tent people in Occupy?  With the money we have left over  (and I do mean "Left,"  apparently),  "they" want me to buy them cars and gas and insurance and schooling  and houses and food and stuff while they practice the art of mental examination avoidance for even asking.

Obama's reported appeal:

“Allowing this tax cut to expire would make people’s lives harder right now.  It would make their choices more difficult.  It would be $40 less for groceries to feed your kids.  It would be $40 less for the medications you depend on, $40 less to cover bills and the rent, $40 less to take care of an elder parent or to donate to a church or a charity,” Obama said in a speech from the South Court Auditorium at the White House.

“Call, tweet. Write your congressman, write your senators.  Tell them:  Do not let up until this thing gets done.  Don’t let taxes go up on 160 million  working Americans.”

Amazing.  And what is most startling is the fact that many,  listening to or reading this appeal  (we assume a degree of literacy for the sake of argument),  buy into this drivel without giving the matter a moments thought.

Again,  there are only 84 million Americans who actually pay income tax  -- not 160 or 153 million or whatever.    Secondly,  I have to ask, "Which is it?  Does that $40 dollars a month go to medicine OR food OR caring for your elderly parent OR giving to your church [while it is still legal for them to exist apart from federal intervention]?"   Ahhh,  I almost forgot,  "they" don't get the 40 bucks because they don't pay any stinking taxes to start with.   There is no 'tax cut' for those who pay no income taxes !!!

The appeal is as convoluted as is the Man, himself, but what does the evening network news crowd know?
