While he was fooling no one on the Right, Obama did have the black community fooled. Of all the voting demographics in our Union, blacks are as monolithic in their opposition to gay marriage as they are in favor of Barack Obama.
When I say that blacks are a monolithic vote for Obama (and Democrats in general), I mean to imply that they are not swing voters. If they grow disenchanted with a particular Democrat, they do not run to the GOP side of the aisle and cast their vote. Instead, they simply stay home and wait for another day.
Problem: Obama needs the black community to be as fired up for his candidacy as they were four years ago. But Joe Biden let the cat out of the bag, over the weekend, and Obama had no choice but to admit what was obvious. No doubt he wanted to wait until after the election, but the press was not going to let this issue die until Obama actually took a stand. The press conferences over the past two days have been about nothing else but Biden's commits and Obama's position. Again, he had no choice. As a result, he may have kissed between 5 and 10 percent of his black base good-bye.
I hope that this blog, among other things, is a huge encouragement to the conservative voter. All of my original commentary is laden with facts and intended to be used as talking points. But, more than this, I am one of a few who believe that Obama is about to get a royal butt kicking, come November. I do not believe it will be close. And, as time goes on, this will be more of theme in my writings.
If I am correct, and I do not pretend that I cannot be wrong in my prediction, you should expect to see news such as Obama's confession (above) to be part of a "perfect storm." I do believe that this is what we see gathering on the political horizon.
Update: you should know that Obama may had, also, lost the state of North Carolina, which, yesterday, passed anti-gay marriage legislation.
