Update: understand that Obama does not believe in preemptive military
strikes, unless, of course, he is the man giving that order.
Apparently, he expects Israel to risk survival as it waits for a
first strike from Iran. Moron.
Original post:
Out of the WSJ, we have these remarks: U.S. defense leaders are increasingly concerned that Israel is preparing to take military action against Iran, over U.S. objections, and have stepped up contingency planning to safeguard U.S. facilities in the region in case of a conflict. . . . . . .
Look, we have been watching
as Iran works to create a nuclear devise for years, to the point that much of
its effort has become systemic to that nation's military edifice. More
than this, the Iranian nuclear effort is now multifaceted as it layers
its accomplished efforts in the face of a world that is doing nothing but
issuing threats and objections.
And, if Iran is successful,
all the world knows that Israel is doomed; it is that simple.
Iran is building "the bomb" for the expressed and singular
purpose of destroying Israel. Why Obama thinks Israel has time for failed
policies and the solutions of cowards, is beyond me.
When Obama ran for president,
he was repeatedly critical of George Bush for "nation building."
He (Obama) argued for respecting national sovereignty and promised
to "reset" our relationships with the world's powers. But,
almost, immediately, Obama violated that principle and the
several related promises, beginning with a manifest contempt for Israel.
Over the course of time, Obama has violated his stated principles with
intervention in Egypt and Libya, resulting in what appears to be a more
hostile atmosphere against the United States than before his mettlesome ways. He has even considered military action in parts of Africa.
Point of this post:
simply to make the point that if respect for national sovereignty is a vital part of our foreign policy,
especially the sovereignty of our allies, Israel needs to be
supported in its decisions with regard to national survival.
Obama needs to function as an ally, not a team member of the enemy,
period.
