Did you know there was a debate, last might, Monday, December the 12th?

Newt Gingrich and Jon Huntsman sat down and discussed issues in front of a packed house of 500 people in New Hampshire, Monday evening. Several thousand also followed the discussion on an online video feed. It was a 90 minute meeting. Foreign policy and national security were the main issues but not the only issues discussed at length. Apparently, there was much to be learned from both men in their discussion on Asia and the Middle East, as well.

Here are two opinions that seem to be typical of those attenting the meeting:

“They’re both brilliant men. I was just extremely impressed. They had areas of disagreement but it was nuanced. I was very, very impressed by the manner in which they both approached very serious issues.”

And,

“If either one of them was our nominee we’d be in great shape. I see why Mitt Romney didn’t want to do it, because he would have gotten clobbered.”

Gingrich continues to build his base. Huntsman is a brilliant fellow, as well. He wants us out of Iraq, now, but on nearly all other issues, he is quite conservative. He was the very successful governor of Utah.

  1. I am a big fan of Huntsman. If only he could make a big push and place in the primaries. If only the GOP had more real honest intelligent people like Huntsman.

  2. Indeed, there is much to like about the guy. He is as intelligent as anyone in the race, but you sell the GOP short on "brains" with that last comment.

Bachmann, for example, has the equivalent of a post graduate degree in law with her LLM degree. My lawyer son tells me that this makes her one intelligent lady.

But I do agree that Huntsman is a good choice.
