A plea to Sarah Palin. Even if you are not a fan, I want you all to read this post.

The following was written on my Palin blog. Understand that in that camp of conservatives, the disappointment as to her decision not to run for the GOP nomination is monumental. All along, she has indicated that if she did not enter the race, a "draft" might be in order. Her announcement seemed to preclude that possibility. The following is written with her decision and my disappointment in mind.

**********

I need to make a decision as to which direction this (Palin) blog will take now that Sarah is not running for president. It seems that her announcement eliminated even the thought of a draft -- very disappointing to me.

I am hoping this post resonates with someone who has Sarah's attention. No one is a bigger supporter than I, but there are so many questions that are deserving of an answer.

I am an ex-pastor. One of the tricks members used on me, when asked to actually do something in the work of the church, was to tell me that they "had prayed about it and had no sense of calling, no sense of 'peace,' as to what I was asking them to do." Esoteric buffoonery.

Please pardon my abruptness, but, that is the type of answer we have gotten from Sarah . . . a good answer as far as it goes. But what of the call for her service? That is the question of the moment. What of her place in the conservative scheme of things - does that not speak to the fact of her calling? Understand that, theologically speaking (and I do know something about theology), a "calling" is much more than a "sense of peace" or a vision in the night, or a mystic thought to accomplish some particular good.

As to that last consideration, how do we as Christian keep from confusing our vision with God's vision? Indeed, how? If not by looking to what God has already set in motion, before we came along, then I have no answer. What I mean is this - as relates to Sarah; I believe that God has taken this woman and placed her in the middle of something He has been working on, for a long, long time.

I would kindly argue that Sarah is ignoring her calling - her charge from God to participate at the highest level. If she looks around, I believe she has no choice but to see herself "in the middle" of something God has already set into motion. I mean, who gave her more than the 15 minutes of fame most expected of her influence? Who gave her those incredible instincts? Who beautified her very person and gifted her with family and friends that added to her qualifications? And where in the world did the RINO, John McCain, come up "Palin as V.P.?" I am telling anyone who will listen, it is God who is at the center of all her "success." She is the first to say, "this is not about me." Indeed !! It is about the "movement," but she has been placed near the center of that movement. It is not about her, because she did not put herself "in the middle." Someone else did that.

Anyone have a clue why we Christians are typified as "sheep?" In Judaism, what is a sheep good for? Sacrifice !!! We are to suffer as He suffered. We are "called" to a life of suffrage. THAT is her calling, as well. And the past four years is the collective proof of God's intentions for her.

Look, if she runs and fails, she secures her place as a leader within the "movement." I doubt many will be interested in her opinion if she simply backs off from the fire without an explanation that goes beyond "we prayed about it and . . . . . . . . . . that's it."

It is not too late for her to change her mind. She has to move beyond being the "cheerleader" of the movement. She is at the front of an army of between 20 to 40 million patriots. Her stripes must be earned on the national stage and John McCain does not count, in a final sense. I am saying she has no choice. We need this young lady to climb back in the saddle and help lead the charge. Even if she fails to earn the nomination, she will have earned her place as a leader and secured another opportunity, four years from now.
