Want to know how a Palin fan thinks? Here is a perfect example. From the beginning, at the time she was forced out as Governor, I was secure in the notion that I understood the Governor. Within two hours of her announced decision, I was on record predicting her increased leadership within the conservative movement.
I was excited about that potentiality, and elated to see my thinking play itself out over the years. While my enthusiasm was not tied to a run for the presidency, it turns out that I had come to anticipate a willingness, on her part, to enter the race. Although she had not gotten around to a specific statement of policy, her ideas were evolving as was her ability to express her ideas. At the bottom of this blog, I have installed a 42 minute video presenting Palin on the stump, at her best. As you listen, you will be struck with the effectiveness of her words and the sense of agreement she has with the larger, collective conservative consciousness. I believe she was well on her way to becoming as large an influence as was Ronald Reagan.
Just days before making her very disappointing announcement, she even explored specifics as to support and funding. That was the last news I read before her announcement.
Apart from an explanation, this whole thing is a mystery. And, without an [convincing] explanation, there is no future for Sarah Palin. To continue as a big time player in the coming elections, we need to hear from Sarah. At least I do. I hate having to abandon my hope for the future, but that may be in the cards.
Look, why is Herman Cain a sudden phenom within the GOP party? Because the T.E.A. movement is driving the primary - and the TEA party belongs to Sarah before it belongs to Cain. Constitutional, anti-Establishment, Conservatives are standing "in their moment." The problem with Cain is found in the fact that he has no money. He has less than 2 million in the bank . . . . some say less than one million. Mr. Establishment has nearly 20 million.
Think about it. Cain . . . . conservative . . . . no money . . . . primary leader. Contrast that with a potential candidacy for Sarah Palin. She is better "on the stump." She has already been vetted. She would be a killer in debates versus Barack Obama and, she has the ability to gather an immense campaign fund. Her opposition within the GOP Establishment argues that she has no campaign "machine" in place and cannot succeed for that reason. It is clear that the tiresome Karl Rove believes that "lack of a machine" is something that is death dealing, in terms of the a political Palin future.
I could not disagree more. She has a "machine" and it has been in place for two or more years. That "machine" is her "fan base." This "Palin Machine" comes complete with a ready made voter base (the T.E.A. party - - - 20 to 30 million strong), an obvious ability to raise money, an army of blogger pundits that is formidable and a media presence - think Levin, Limbaugh and Hannity - that would be overwhelming. All she has to do, and I do not mean to imply an effortless-free assignment, is to craft a series of research and referenced policy statements that would have appeal to the Independent vote (without compromising, of course), and her election would have a predictable outcome.
So what happened? Did she lose confidence, or is there something else?
I did not keep up with the following accusation, but, I saw no furious denial of a supposed fling with a basketball player, back when she was a single college gal. Good grief. Even if true, this hardly rises to the level of "scandal." But, if true, just how much mud would this produce, from the Marxist Left? Who knows.
As an editor, small time as I am, I can make the case for an indiscreet Barack Obama, beginning with the fact of his admitted cocaine use (addiction?) . Why did he and Michelle terminate their law licences and reverse the spending of someone's money to get those licenses? Why do we not have a single college student coming forward, proudly declaring Obama as his teacher? One would think that we would have dozens of such interviews, young people touting the scholastic excellence of this "great man." Instead, we have nothing of the kind. Were there no women in his pre-marriage life? The silence at this point raises serious questions as to "why the stark silence." Why is there no one who claims to be a youthful friend of this man? Again, I would think that dozens of past acquaintances are "out there," waiting to share their stories of friendship and fun with the Slickmeister. But nothing. Strange, no? He is reportedly a "Constitutional scholar" without having written as single paper on the subject or setting himself apart from the pointie-headed hordes, in any way. There is a serious question as to his college funding and scholastic qualification. Did you know that Barack has left the confines of the White House on at least two reported occasions? Gone for several hours, into the night, without a press corps or his Secret Service protection. I could go on.
I am saying, if the Slickmeister and his Marxist buds want to throw mud, heck, our supply compared to his is endless.
But what am I doing? Sarah could have won. In fact, I do not think she has left the opportunity behind. But she would need to revisit her decision in the very near future.
One thing for certain, unless we make our wishes known to the governor, she will not revisit her decision. Those of you who have her ear need to pressure the woman to change her mind. She is a winner and she needs to reclaim that conviction. Why? Because this country needs her attention!!
