With the most recent Gallup poll, Congress, as a whole, scored its lowest approval rating since Gallup began asking for Congress's approval (1991). The suggestion that followed, echoed by liberal new outlets, is one that has another "wave" election in 2012, an election similar to that of 2010, one that swept Democrats out of power in the House and gave Senate Republicans one of the largest gains in history. As the theory goes, the 2012 wave election will sweep Democrats back into power.
The Gallup poll in question has Congressional approval at a record low of 24%. Sounds bad. But!!!!! when asked about the participants' own congressional representative, the approval ratings rose sharply to 56%. In the same poll, when asked, "Does Obama deserve re-election," 51% said "no."
