BOEHNER KILLS DEAL AFTER DEMS PUSH $2 TRILLION IN TAX HIKES...
If you have not been listening to the political debate over the past several days, you do not know that Obama's response to the battle cry of the GOP, "no new taxes," was to propose $2 trillion in new taxes, most of which is levied against 1% of our population.
Understand that this response is nothing short of an "in your face" insult to those who seriously care about the financial health of this country. The claim that "Obama cares" is, obviously, so much BS. Obama is all about his re-election and little more. Know this, the current Obama budget proposal is his third effort since the beginning of the year (2011). When one comes up with three different plans in 6 months,he is not working out of conviction but, instead, is simply jockeying for position.
Let's not forget that Obama signed onto a continuation of all the original Bush tax cuts and he did so just before the end of last year. Within weeks of that compromise, he began pretending that no such deal was made with the GOP.
Understand that Boehner's response is the only logical response available to the Speaker. After he stated in clear terms, "Absolutely no new taxes," the Novice's response of "OK, I propose TWO TRILLION in new taxes" is a declaration of war with the hope that Democrats can use the divide in the coming election cycle.
I would not be in favor of any new taxes, but, certainly, no new taxes apart from parallel cuts in spending of the same amount . . . . . two trillion dollars. The Democrats are making no such offer, and consequently, the "deal" is off.
The problem in raising taxes is that it does nothing but allow the big spenders to plan for more spending. If there was legislation that cemented the promise of "no new spending" (to use Pelosi's words), I would be in favor of certain tax increases. But that is not the case. Democrats argue that "taxes are the lowest in years." Yes. And, there is nothing wrong with keeping it that way.
Look, half this nation does not pay taxes for the Federal services they receive. Sure they pay sales tax and FICA, but that does not pay for their food stamps, child support and welfare assistance, Medicare, unemployment benefits, and for the "tax credits" (thousands of dollars per family, in many cases) they receive while the rest of us are paying through the nose so they can have all that free stuff. The so-called "rich" pay 50% of their income to taxes (state and local income taxes), again, compared to zero for the entitlement population. More than 50% of our population is now on some sort of Federal assistance.
The notion of "fair share" has already happened. Now, lets stop spending our grandchilren's money and get on with life.
