PEW research presents a poll showing that Unions are the big winners in all this Wisconsin mess.
Nonsense.
Understand that a positive opinion on "collective bargaining" is a very broad category while the Governor's actions are more specific and sorely misrepresented in the Wisconsin and nation media.
Understand that Governor Walker is not working against collective bargaining for wages. Did you know this? More importantly, did those surveyed know this? We think not. Did you know that the result of Walker's maneuverings will present a union circumstance very similar to that of Federal workers? We are thinking that Obama knows this. Were those surveyed approving of a billion dollars collected and spent by these unions for Viagra "treatment?" Did the surveyed population offer their opinion of tenure and the grave difficulties in firing bad teachers? What was the public's opinion of a collective bargaining process, in Wisconsin, that took more than 18 months to finalize in the last bargaining season? What would their opinion be if asked about the benefit package, via collective bargaining, of the teacher's union, one that secures four times the benefits of non-union workers?
And, what is the impact of the 18% who are standing by as onlookers? They are thinking. They are making decisions on this matter as well.
Point of post: to document our belief that the PEW poll is too generic, involving too great an opportunity for blatant left wing bias, to be of any serious value.
