It is being reported this morning that nearly 800,000 dollars has been spent in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, alone, on viagra "treatments" as a result of concessions forced upon local school districts, the result of the irresistible bargaining tool we know as "collective bargaining."
It is little wonder that the majority opinion in the United States is against unions. This editor believes that Big Labor has kind of "stepped in it" with the current push against the newly elected Wisconsin Governor and the state legislature. Elections have consequences. But, when they [the elections] go against Democrat Socialist Liberals (not all Democrats fall within this definition, btw), they see themselves justified in suspending the rules of democratic engagement, resorting to chaos, vandalism, lies and collusion with other sympathizing professional communities.
I personally believe the unions have made a huge mistake. Making Wisconsin the test case for future union reform in a state given a mandate by its electorate to "get its financial house in order" is both wrong headed and bad timing. When it is all said and done, the GOP has the necessary votes to pass the legislation objected to by the public unions in Wisconsin. They, the unions, cannot win in this circumstance. Our society is not governed via mass demonstrations of the privileged class. It is not ruled by those who are willing to lie, cheat, and coerce circumstances to their favor.
We now know that members of the medical profession willingly came to Madison and handed out phony medical excuses. This in violation of all that the medical community stands for. One of my three sons is an ER doctor and would never have done such a thing as write a phony medical excuse. The teachers, themselves, are violating state law (a felony crime) and the Democrat Senate leadership has left town and remain in hiding until things are done their way. What a bunch of undisciplined idiots.
What do we have in Wisconsin, "democracy in action" as some at FoxNews and MSNBC have claimed, or mob rule that, in the end, violates my rights as a non-union worker, not to mention the law???
Point of post: to use the viagra scandal as a "typical" of collective bargaining excesses. In New York, bad teachers cannot be fired. They are moved to "rubber rooms" where they report, doing nothing day in and day out . . . . at full pay, until they decide to retire with full benefits. THAT is collective bargaining. While most will admit this is wrong, the point is that state and/or the local county governments are powerless to stop these excesses in an effort to balance their books. Collective bargaining takes power away from local governments and, just as importantly, from objecting parents. These increasingly atheist oriented unions keep parents out of the classroom, prevent public review of teacher lectures, discourage text book reviews, allow for secret student abortions, push for the normalcy of radical human behavior such as the transgender agenda and down play the historicity of our country and its founding fathers. In the midst of all this secular crap, the student is lost and the educational assignment to our youth takes back stage. In other words, liberals have done a lousy job of educating our youth while they have successfully lined their pockets with benefits that governments can no longer afford.
Finally, the union in Wisconsin argues that the current annual debt is not a problem. A representative of the state's teacher's union told FoxBusinessNews, this morning, that the governor of the state could simply refinance the debt and, bam !!!, the problem would be solved. Incredible. They actually think that borrowing to cover debt solves the problem.
We, at Midknight Review, have long charged that liberalism is the result of a damage genetic pathology. With this report, we rest our case.
It seems to me that most people do not understand much about this issue - collective bargaining. I'm sure most do not understand the differences between collective bargaining in the public sector compared to the private sector. I'm sure people do not even know the benefits of collective bargaining compared to the negative aspects.
ReplyDeleteMost people probably hear representatives from the parties that they support and blindly accept whatever they say as fact instead of doing a little bit of reading on their own. I am quite sure that people don't even listen to the opposing party's arguments.
Two big reasons for problems in this country are 1) people don't think for themselves and 2) too many of the few smart people out there are better motivated by their own greed than a common good for society.
Republicans aren't attacking people's rights - that's a lie. Unions are attacking people who pay taxes. If you think before you speak you might realize it, but maybe not.
