How the Left is dealing with the midterm destruction and a little advice from two of their own:

When the Marxist Left swept the GOP and its conservative element out of office in 2008, there were hundreds of articles, headlines and liberal talking points declaring the "death of conservatism" in this country. Charles Schumer (S - NY) even celebrated the end of talk on "family values" and "national security."

The GOP went to Washington on January 21, 2008 so much in the minority that their votes did not count at all, in terms of getting things done. Potentially, every single bit of legislation in the Senate and the House, needed only Democrat votes to become law. With 60 votes in the Senate, the Dems could ignore the GOP opposition altogether. They had that 60 vote margin.

In the House of Representatives and its current 435 member representation, the Dems needed 218 votes to get things done; they had 256.

If the Dems wanted to rule as if only one party existed, they could . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . and they did. Their president, Mr. Barack Obama, refused private negotiations with the Republicans. He met with GOP leadership only twice during the first 12 months, once with Senate leadership and once with the House GOP functionaries. There were no follow-up meetings. In the health care bill, for example, House Republicans offered 800 amendments; only one got out of committee.

Their rule was petulant, arrogant and dictatorial. Now that it is over, how are these radicals taking their dramatic loss?

Here is a typical statement from the Marxist rag, Slate:

And—I really can't believe I keep having to say this, but people keep writing these sort of things—anyone even remotely familiar with American political history knows that Obama's current situation, a defeat for his party in the midterm Congressional elections, is routine. It is the opposite of a crisis. It happens to everyone. . . . .Slate

Understand that the Leftist clown who wrote this paragraph, thinks "routine" equals the worst defeat for House Democrats since 1938. Amazingly biased, bordering on stupid. We all know of Pelosi's statement: "We did not lose because of me" and Obama comments, " I didn't communicate effectively." 682 state legislative positions moved into the GOP camp. 19 state legislature's, Democrat before the election, are now filled with GOP majporities. 31 states are now "conservative." And the Slate editor thinks this is normal. All we can say to that is this: We certainly hope so.

There is sanity in the Democrat camp; not all are in denial. By contrast to one of the more asinine comments of all time [from Slate], we have this bit of sanity from two centrist/liberal Democrat pollsters:

Doug Schoen and Pat Caddell suggested in the Washington Post yesterday that Obama "seize the high ground," by announcing that he will not run for reelection in 2012.
Their exact words were these:
We do not come to this conclusion lightly. But it is clear, we believe, that the president has largely lost the consent of the governed. The midterm elections were effectively a referendum on the Obama presidency. And even if it was not an endorsement of a Republican vision for America, the drubbing the Democrats took was certainly a vote of no confidence in and his party. The president has almost no credibility left with Republicans and little with independents. . . . . .

Conclusion: there is a huge debate going on behind the scenes within the Democrat Party. They are fighting for the direction of that party. The Marxist/Socialists have taken ownership of the Democrat party over the course of the past 18 years, dating back to Bill Clinton. The 2010 elections should be considered a wake-up call for the Liberal Party.

Understand, the liberal opinion has been with us from the very beginnings of our history. It is not going away. But, the radical socialism of Pelosi/Obama/Reid is something that must not survive. We are hopeful that the midterm Democrat debacle will be the beginning of a new liberal Democrat Party. First steps to that end? The Dems need to accept the advise of its own pundits, men like Schoen and Caddell AND the GOP needs to actually get things done without apart from the arrogance of their predecessors.
