Glenn Beck's Anti-Semitic Attacks — The Fox host's stunning two-day tirade against George Soros is a new low on American television. Michelle Goldberg on the roots of his hatred—and the Anti-Defamation League's shameful silence. — Anti-Semitism, like all ideologies, tells a story about the world. . . . . .
Editor's notes: The Daily Beast is buying into Newsweek and putting Tina Brown (of CNN fame) in the position of Editor in Chief. With headline stories such as the one above, there is the fear that this partnership will be no more popular than the Newsweek of the past.
Understand that George Soros is not a friend of Israel. It is not that he is a an enemy of that country so much as he simply doesn't give a rip. After reading this article it became apparent to this editor that the overriding complaint against Glenn Beck is that he is going after a Jew; forget that this atheist Jew is an enemy of America. Seriously, there was little to nothing in the article that documented poor journalist conclusions on the part of Beck. Rather, Soros is a Jew, raised during the war, and Beck went after him. Never mind the fact that Beck, on tape and during the hour show aired on Fox, was more than sympathetic of a 13 year old boy having to make the kinds of decision he was forced to make, decisions against his fellow Jewish country men.
Conclusion: when anti-Semitism is defined in terms of criticizing any Jew for any thing, the term loses its meaning and the accusation of "anti-Semitic" becomes little more than a childish bit of name calling.
